Sjogran looking forward to Chelsea Champions League tie | OneFootball

Director of Football Therese Sjogran says Manchester City are excited to test ourselves once again in the UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-finals.

Gareth Taylor’s side will face Chelsea in our first knockout tie in Europe’s elite competition since 2021, with the first leg at the Joie Stadium on either 18 or 19 March.

The reverse fixture will take place the following week with a semi-final showdown against either Barcelona or Wolfsburg up for grabs for the victor.

It’s an exciting prospect, with City now facing Chelsea four times in the space of two weeks thanks to our League Cup final and WSL clash at the Etihad either side of the first leg.

Sjogran admits that there are no easy fixtures at this stage in the competition, but that she and the team are relishing the matchup.

“At this stage all the teams are really good, so we knew either way it was going to be difficult,” the former Sweden international explained.

“But we are looking forward to these two games and I think we have a good chance to go to the semi-final.

“We know them very well and will play them in the WSL and League Cup final as well, this is a really exciting time for the Club and we can’t wait to see what happens.”
