Ben Nelson could be passed fit for Leicester City at Charlton, though Oliver Skipp will miss out again because of concussion rules. LeicesterMercury.co.uk reports that a late call will be taken on Nelson on Friday after training.

Nelson came off at half-time in the 2-1 loss at Oxford with a swollen knee, sparking fears of a lay-off. He has trained this week and will be assessed after Friday’s session.

Skipp sat out Oxford after a head injury in the draw at Wrexham, and protocols mean he cannot play competitively until the trip to Birmingham next weekend. He has trained and felt fine, but he will miss this match.

Skipp’s absence leaves three senior options for the central roles, Hamza Choudhury, Louis Page and Bobby De Cordova-Reid, unless interim boss Andy King restores Harry Winks, something he has suggested he might. Boubakary Soumare has been sold this week, while Jordan James is out longer term and Aaron Ramsey is due back at some point in March.

Harry Souttar remains sidelined and will not make the game. Victor Kristiansen has been back on the grass and training, which King described as a welcome boost.

Teenage defender Kevon Gray, who was on the bench for the first time at Oxford, could be involved again, even if Winks returns. Midfielder Michael Golding is another who might be called up.
