Bristol City boss Michael Skubala labelled the late penalty decision that denied his side victory against Birmingham City as “crazy” after the Robins were held to a 2-2 draw.

Birmingham were awarded a late spot-kick after the ball was judged to have struck Jason Knight’s hand, allowing the hosts to rescue a point through Demarai Gray.

Skubala admitted he had not seen the incident clearly during the match but felt the decision was incorrect after reviewing the footage.

“I didn’t see it at the time, but I’ve seen it back,” Skubala said.

“The linesman’s given it for a handball from Jason Knight, and Rob Atkinson heads the ball, so I think it is a crazy decision that didn’t need to happen.

“The referee has two angles: his angle and the linesman’s angle, and I think the decision is not the right one, which is [why] it is a frustrating afternoon for us, because I think we did enough to win the game.”
