Joao Felix’s time at AC Milan is drawing to a rather unspectacular end, and there is a possibility he could leave the continent as early as June.
Barring some remarkable performances in the last five games of the season, Felix will return to his parent club Chelsea at the end of this season. The Rossoneri will not push to bring him back either via a loan or a permanent deal, as a bright start to his time in Italy quickly fizzled out.
According to Sky (via MilanNews), there is a chance that he dons another red and black shirt before 2025-26 even starts. Flamengo – after having secured the services of Jorginho for next season – are also targeting the former Atletico and Benfica playmaker.
The operation is very complicated because the Brazilian side want to get him through the door before the FIFA Club World Cup, which will take place over the summer. The tournament is scheduled to be played in the United States from June 14 to July 13.
Furthermore, the player’s will needs to be understood, more specifically if he is willing to leave Europe at 25 years of age. In the meantime, there has been an initial contact between Flamengo and the entourage of the Portugal international.
In the official statement upon his arrival, Milan wrote: “The Portuguese attacker has signed a contract with the Club lasting until 30 June 2025.” Thus, for Flamengo to get him in for the Club World Cup, that agreement would have to end early.
