Sky Sport journalist Angelo Mangiante offered more insight into Roma’s on-going search for a new head coach.

In an interview with Radio Manà Manà Sport, Mangiante said, “I say what I know based on what I have learned. The favorite at the moment from what I understand is Stefano Pioli.”

“From the beginning he was the first name on Ranieri’s list. There are some contractual difficulties to resolve, because he has a three-year contract with Al Nassr, and it is not easy to deal with them.”

“The second name on Ranieri’s list is Fabregas, and he has been contacted by three clubs: Roma, Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen, because Xabi Alonso will go to Real Madrid, with Ancelotti having reached an agreement with Brazil. But there is a question between Fabregas and Como, he has a share of the club’s ownership and has a very strong bond with the Como family. Roma is looking at the alternative to Pioli. In my opinion Fabregas can follow the career of Luis Enrique.”

“Farioli? Ghisolfi also appreciates Fabregas’ potential, but since there are two people deciding, he is putting forward the name of a coach who is ready for him.
