Manchester United have reportedly set their asking price for Manuel Ugarte, who has at least three suitors, including Juventus.

The Uruguayan has been playing his football at Old Trafford since making the move from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2024.

However, the 25-year-old has yet to fulfil the early promise he showed at Sporting Club under the guidance of Ruben Amorim, not even when he was reunited with the Portuguese manager at Carrington.

Manuel Ugarte wanted at Juventus, Newcastle & Aston Villa

This season, Ugarte has been reduced to an understudy to Casemiro, and many feel he should follow the Brazilian to the exit door. If INEOS decided to part ways with the Real Madrid manager for financial reasons (his hefty salary), the Uruguayan’s departure could ensue for technical reasons.

Ugarte himself is reportedly ‘unhappy’ with his status at the club, as he feels he deserves more playing time at Old Trafford.

Michael Carrick recently defended his midfielder, praising Ugarte’s ‘terrific’ attitude on the training ground, but his minutes have yet to improve.

Luckily for the Montevideo native, he still has suitors among Europe’s elite, with Juventus sporting director Marco Ottolini reportedly scouting him during Uruguay’s friendly against Algeria in Turin last week.

According to Sky Sport CH journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the Serie A giants aren’t alone in the race, as Newcastle and Aston Villa are also keeping tabs on the struggling Man Utd player.

Why Man Utd would be happy to receive £35 million for Ugarte

Tavolieri adds that United have set their asking price at £35 million. Although the player has been enduring a steep decline, he remains young enough to revive his playing career, as we’ve seen with other MUFC players who simply didn’t cut it at Old Trafford, but were able to prove their worth elsewhere.

Therefore, INEOS consider it a fair figure, and it would also yield a capital gain. United bought Ugarte from PSG for £42 million (plus £8m in add-ons), and his contract is valid until June 2028. Therefore, his book value should be circa £25 million next summer.

If Man Utd can collect the requested figure, it would help them finance their midfield revamp. Jason Wilcox is expected to recruit either two or three new players in this department, with his ‘shortlist’ growing increasingly larger by the day.
