Manchester United are reportedly in the race for RB Leipzig bomber Benjamin Sesko who can be free himself next summer thanks to a release clause.

The Red Devils are certainly desperate for a new striker given how Rasmus Hojlund has been enduring a rough patch this season, to say the least. The Dane has failed to score a goal in each of his last 18 appearances for the club, thus highlighting the club’s dire need on this particular department.

As for Joshua Zirzkee, he’s beginning to win over the fans’ support thanks to his hard work and contribution all over the pitch, but his attacking stats are hardly an improvement on Hojlund. In recent months, the Reds have been linked with several potential candidates, chief amongst them is Victor Osimhen.

Nevertheless, Sky Sport DE reveals that Man Utd are in the race for Sesko, similar to Arsenal and Tottenham, alongside potentially other Premier League giants. These clubs have reportedly ‘expressed their interest’ in the 21-year-old striker.

The Slovenia international made the familiar move from RB Salzburg to their sister club Leipzig in 2023, and has now established himself as one of the deadliest strikers in the Bundesliga thanks to his imposing physique and clinical finishing touch.

Sesko’s teammate Yussuf Poulsen hailed him as the ‘best striker’ he had ever played with. This is coming from a player who teamed up with the likes of Timo Werner and Christopher Nkunku who were absolutely vicious during their time at the German club.

The source adds that the young striker has agreed with the club over a release clause that varies depending on certain parameters, including scoring charts. The clause is currently set at €70 million, but the source expected it to reach €80 million by the end of the season.

But if United are going to splash this amount on a striker, perhaps it would be wiser to shell it out on a proven profile like Victor Osimhen who can also free himself from Napoli thanks to a €75 million release clause.
