Sky Sports are showing Sunday’s huge Chelsea – Arsenal game in the Premier League, so of course they’re talking it up as a big game even more than everyone else.

With the two teams sitting in first and second place, there’s already a sense that this is game that could have a major impact on the title race.

Sky Sports’ preview of the game just comes out and says it straight up:

“This feels like a crucial game in terms of the momentum of the Premier League title race. Can Chelsea close the gap on Arsenal – or will they be shown to not be at the level of a serious contender?

“If Maresca can find a way to pass the Arsenal test and deliver a win for Chelsea it would shift the narrative – and expectations.”

We all know what he means by that – Chelsea will be put into the title race if they win this one. And probably rightly – Arsenal are looking far better than anyone else in the league, and if we beat them it will indeed be a huge statement. Even though the table is so tight, the symbolism of beating the leaders would undoubtedly have the media throwing us into the conversation.

However we should all remember we were in exactly the same position a year ago, and by May we were desperately scratching for points to get us into the top four. So let’s not get too ahead of ourselves, even if we get a big win at the weekend.

In other news…

Chelsea’s team for Sunday’s game still isn’t clear, and Sky also pointed out that Enzo Maresca’s endless changes in defence making predicting his team very difficult.

Chelsea’s star of the win over Barcelona on Tuesday night was Marc Cucurella, who excelled against his old team.
