One of the Championship's televised fixtures sees Watford make the short trip to Loftus Road to take on Queens Park Rangers this weekend.

The last time the two sides met was on the opening day of the Championship campaign back in August, with Watford running out 4-0 winners that day. Things have come a long way since then, though.

QPR's recent form

QPR, for one, have a different boss in the dugout. Back then it was Gareth Ainsworth taking charge of the R's, but these days, Marti Cifuentes is the man in charge.

Despite a good spell in late November and early December, QPR have suffered poor form of late once again, with Cifuentes and his players without a win in their last six Championship fixtures.

As a result, they remain 23rd in the division. However, they are only four points behind Huddersfield Town in 21st, with the Terriers in equally poor form, so a win this weekend could be crucial.

Watford's Championship form

Watford, so far this season, are faring much better than their opponents this weekend.

The Hornets, despite some struggles earlier in the campaign, stuck by head coach Valerien Ismael, and are now well in the hunt for a play-off place.

Indeed, the Hornets currently sit 10th in the Championship standings ahead of the weekend, just four points behind Sunderland in sixth place.

Although winless in their last three, prior to that, Ismael had the Hornets on a good run, and the Frenchman will be hoping to see his side get back to winning ways at Loftus Road on Sunday.

David Prutton's QPR v Watford score prediction

If Sky Sports EFL pundit David Prutton's score prediction comes to fruition, the Hornets will be doing exactly that.

Writing in his weekly column, Prutton is predicting a 2-0 away win for Watford on Sunday.

Offering his thoughts on the match, Prutton wrote on Sky Sports: "It looks a lot more gloomy this side of the festive schedule than it did at the start for QPR."

"At one stage they looked like they could escape the bottom three, but now find themselves adrift again.

"Watford are slowly creeping up towards those play-offs.

"Whether they can make it or not is another question, but they should have the power to see off a dispirited QPR here. Prediction: 0-2."

It will certainly be interesting to see if the match plays out as Prutton predicts or whether QPR, with home advantage, can secure a positive result in their fight for Championship survival.
