Chelsea have now made £61m in prize money from the Club World Cup following their victory against Palmeiras on Friday evening according to Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol
The Blues ground out a hard fought 2-1 win against their Brazilian counterparts, with Cole Palmer opening the scoring, before future Chelsea star Estevao Willian equalised, but Malo’s Gusto deflected striker seven minutes from time proved to be the winner.
Chelsea face a reunion with Thiago Silva as they take on another Brazilian side Fluminense in New York for a place in the final.
The Blues now have a serious chance of winning the Club World Cup and will likely be viewed as favourites to reach the final.
The Club World Cup has come under a lot of criticism, but Chelsea have grown as the competition has gone on, and have made themselves a very difficult side to beat.

The competition has also provided Chelsea with the opportunity to make a considerable amount of prize money, which is an added bonus given the money they’ve spent in the window so far, and Solhekol has provided an update.
He took to X.com and said:
“A day which started with a £27 million UEFA fine ended with Chelsea banking £15 million for reaching the semi-finals of the Club World Cup to take their earnings to £60 million from the tournament.
“Every little helps in the financial regulations era and Chelsea will make another £22 million if they beat Fluminense on Tuesday and another £29 million if they win the final a week on Sunday.”
Enzo Maresca faces a bit of a selection headache ahead of the semi final against Fluminense with Levi Colwill and Liam Delap both suspended after being booked against Palmerias.

Moises Caicedo returns from his ban, but there are doubts over Reece James and Romeo Lavia who missed the quarter final.
The absence of Delap could hand Joao Pedro his first start after an impressive debut, whilst Tosin Adarabioyo is likely to replace Colwill.
