Amidst reports Antony is biding his time to secure his desired return to Real Betis, he’s poised to have two new options to mull over in the form of Saudi Pro League sides.

The Manchester United winger is among Ruben Amorim’s exiled quartet left at Carrington to explore moves away whilst the rest of the squad embark on their pre-season tour of the United States.

Marcus Rashford officially joined Barcelona on loan this week, leaving Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho as the remaining outcast players facing uncertain futures.

In Antony’s case, he has garnered interest from several suitors in recent weeks, although nothing has materialised as far as official negotiations being held.

It was reported last month that he had rebuffed a proposal to join Cesc Fabregas’ project with Como, while Atletico Madrid were said to be ‘emerging as favourites’ in the race for the Brazilian this week.

From his perspective, he is keen to repay Manuel Pellegrini’s faith by returning to the Villamarin Stadium in a long-term deal, as opposed to the half-season spell he enjoyed from January to May.

The ongoing obstacle preventing an agreement from being reached is that Betis cannot financially meet United’s £30 million demands for Antony – and the Reds are unwilling to sanction yet another loan without receiving any remuneration up front.

Antony’s stance on potential Saudi switch

As such, INEOS will be delighted with today’s revelation from Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas, who has confirmed the 25-year-old is now a target for two unnamed Saudi clubs.

It’s thought Antony is taking his time to consider the offers on the table, and, while he would ideally continue plying his trade in Europe, he ‘could be open’ to a Middle Eastern switch.
