Wolves Open Talks for Che Adams as Premier League Return Beckons

Wolverhampton Wanderers are exploring their options in the January market, with Sky Sports reporting that talks are under way with Torino over a deal for striker Che Adams. The update from Sky Sports News’ Mark McAdam suggests momentum is building, with both clubs engaged in what has been described as constructive dialogue.

McAdam reports, “Wolves are currently in talks with Torino over a deal for striker Che Adams.” He adds that, “Dialogue has been positive so far with Adams open to a Premier League return.” For Wolves, that openness matters. It signals not only availability, but intent, a player willing to re-enter the intensity and scrutiny of English football at a time when Wolves are seeking greater attacking consistency.

Serie A numbers and recent form

Sky Sports note that, “The 29-year-old has scored three goals in 21 Serie A appearances this season.” On the surface, that return looks modest. Yet context matters. Serie A can be unforgiving for forwards who rely on movement and pressing as much as penalty box instincts. Goals do not always tell the full story of a striker’s contribution in terms of link play, defensive work and creating space for others.

For Wolves, the question will be whether those underlying qualities translate back into Premier League impact, particularly in a side that often asks its striker to lead the press and knit attacks together.

Premier League experience counts

McAdam also reminds readers that, “Adams last played in English football for Southampton back in May 2024.” That recent experience reduces the adaptation period. There is no mystery about the pace of the league, the refereeing standards, or the weekly physical toll.

Our View – EPL Index Analysis

From a Wolves supporter’s point of view, this potential move feels underwhelming and uninspiring. Che Adams is not the kind of signing that lifts the mood around Molineux or convinces fans that the club is serious about staying up. At a time when goals have been hard to come by, many supporters will be questioning whether a striker with three goals in 21 games in Serie A truly represents an upgrade.

There is a growing sense among fans that Wolves are shopping in a familiar, safe market rather than showing real ambition. Adams is known, and experienced, but that also feeds into the frustration that the club appears to be settling for “steady” instead of striving for better. Supporters have seen this pattern before, short term fixes that paper over deeper attacking issues.

For many, this feels like a backwards step rather than progress. Wolves are potentially selling Strand-Larsen, and if the replacement is Che Adams the club is preparing itself for Championship football.
