Renee Slegers has revealed that Kyra Cooney-Cross will not be available for the rest of the season.

The Arsenal boss says the midfielder is back home in Australia with her family. Cooney-Cross revealed in January that her mother had been diagnosed with cancer.

“She stayed in Australia to spend time with her family and we’re respecting that,” Slegers said. “She won’t be with us for this game and she won’t be with us for the rest of the season.”

Steph Catley and Caitlin Foord will be available for the north London derby against Tottenham on Saturday, though Liam Williamson will miss out again through injury.

“Yes, Steph and Caitlin are available,” Slegers said.

“I think I mentioned it before, Leah doesn’t make it to this game.”

Almost 50,000 fans are expected at the Emirates for Arsenal’s clash with Spurs and Slegers says it is something her players are hugely excited for.

“We’ve been talking to the players about connecting with the crowd and starting in the warm-up because they’re going to help us in the game,” she said.

“We want to bring something to them, so that connection is really important for us. The earlier people can be at the stadium, the better, so we can share this occasion and make the very, very best out of this tomorrow.”
