Renee Slegers says she is “very proud” of Katie Reid after the Arsenal youngster received her first England call up.
The 19-year-old was named in Sarina Wiegman’s squad for the games against Brazil and Australia later this month.
“I’m so happy for Katie,” Arsenal boss Slegers sad.
“She’s a young player but she’s also very mature. She has a growth mindset, she wants to learn every day, she’s very humble, very hard working and she has a lot of qualities that we see and are very valuable to us and I think England have seen that.
“She should be very proud and we are very proud as a club because she’s gone all the way through the academy and now has a first senior call up.”
Arsenal will look to bounce back from their opening game Champions League defeat to Lyon when they face Benfica on Wednesday.
The Gunners stopped a run of four games without a win by beating Brighton on Sunday and Slegers is hoping her side can start to build momentum after a disappointing spell.
“Everyone was of course happy with the win,” she said. “We said three points was the most important thing on that day and we did that together so very happy with that.
“We had a productive review day with the players with some really good, constructive outcomes.
“We’ve been working hard in the build up to this game.”
