Arne Slot has said he is ‘very confident’ that Liverpool will secure Champions League qualification this season.

Liverpool sit fourth in the Premier League table, the final guaranteed qualification spot for next season’s competition.

However, the Reds face strong competition for a place among Europe’s elite, with only three points between Slot’s fourth-placed side and Sunderland in ninth, in a congested Premier League table.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s trip to Bournemouth, Slot outlined the confidence he has in the squad to secure Champions League football, despite a frustrating run of four consecutive league draws.

“I’m very confident because I work with these players every single day and know their qualities but it’s always hard to predict the future. If these players all stay available, we’re in a very good place but sometimes in football you can pick up injuries from nowhere.

“I didn’t expect not to have Giovanni Leoni, Alexander Isak and Conor Bradley unavailable for such a long time. But I think this team has shown many times we are a very, very competitive team against anyone in the world.”
