Arne Slot says that his conversations with the Liverpool owners have not changed despite the club’s dreadful form.
The Dutch coach is under severe pressure after his side lost 4-1 to PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.
The Reds have lost nine of their last 12 outings, their worst run in a 12-game stretch since 1954, which has increased speculation over the manager’s future.
Slot, however, says that his conversations with the hierarchy after the result were no different to previous ones they have had.
“We’ve had the same conversations that we’ve had since I got here,” he said during Thursday’s press conference. “We fight on. We try to improve, but the conversations have been the same as they have been for the last one and a half years.”
Asked if he feels anger towards his players because of their recent form, Slot responded: “Not at all. I do agree that our standards have not been of the standards we are used to. We think we can play better.
“Last season when we did really well, there was focus on individuals and I said we should focus on the team. If the opposite is happening, we should also look at the team and not individuals.”
Liverpool are in danger of letting their season slip away, but Slot does not seem to have any solutions to turn it around.
“That’s not so easy to say,” he replied when asked if there’s anything he can do differently. “It’s normal to reflect on a game with decisions you have made. Maybe you do it a little bit more if you lose.
“In the end, it’s about doing what this club is about. Keep fighting no matter how difficult it is. It would be nice if we reward ourselves in the moments we play well.
“People are focused on he parts we don’t play well but there are large parts where we do play well.”
