In a recent revelation, Stanislav Lobotka, the midfielder from Slovakia, has expressed his desire to join Barcelona if they ever come knocking on his doors.

Currently playing for Napoli, Lobotka’s interest in donning the Blaugrana shirt is no secret. His admiration for the club is evident, and he has openly stated that he would be thrilled to receive an offer from Barcelona.

“I would like to play for a top club, but now I’m at Napoli, I have a contract, I have an ‘Italian family’ there,” said the midfielder as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

“If I had an offer from a top club I would accept it, but it wouldn’t be a problem to stay. Barcelona? I followed them when I was a kid, with Deco and Ronaldinho. If an offer came in I would like to go there,” he added.

Right now, it is no secret that Barcelona have been actively seeking to bolster their midfield. The team has been eyeing top talents like Amadou Onana, Joshua Kimmich, and Mikel Merino.

However, Lobotka’s impressive performance in the Euros has caught the attention of the football community, and his willingness to join Barcelona is a significant development.

It must be noted that the 29-year-old has a contract with Napoli until 2027, with an option to extend for another season.

Despite this, his agent, Branislav Jarusek, revealed that they had reached an agreement with Barcelona to sign Lobotka this summer.

However, the sudden departure of Xavi and the arrival of Hansi Flick as the new coach has put the transfer on hold.

Xavi was a fan

It is suggested that Xavi had praised Lobotka during a Champions League match against Napoli.

“I like Lobotka, he builds and doesn’t lose balls. I would like to see him in a club like Barça,” Xavi had said.

For now, it remains to be seen if Lobotka’s public declaration of interest will prompt Barcelona’s management to revive negotiations for his signing.

If a deal doesn’t materialise, Lobotka will likely continue to play for Napoli. Nevertheless, the possibility of Lobotka joining Barcelona is an exciting prospect for football enthusiasts.

His skills and experience would undoubtedly be an asset to the team, and his passion for the club is evident.
