Sofiane Boufal has announced he is leaving Le Havre, six months after arriving to help secure Ligue 1 survival.

The player said in an Instagram post on Wednesday that he was moving on, sharing the message days after the 2-0 win at Lorient confirmed safety.

In his message, the 32-year-old thanked supporters and the club for six months together, saying wearing HAC colours was an honour and a great source of pride. He added that he took huge pleasure playing at the Stade Océane and on the road, and he praised the staff, team-mates and sporting department for their trust.

Boufal returned to Ligue 1 to lend experience in a tense run-in and contributed to Le Havre’s survival effort, although several fitness setbacks limited his impact.

He concluded that survival was assured and the mission completed, and wished the sky and navy club a long life in the top flight.

His next move is yet to be decided, with possibilities abroad under consideration as he aims to continue at the highest level.
