Hespress reports that Sofiane Boufal arrived in Libya on Sunday and is expected to sign for Al-Ittihad Tripoli. The 32-year-old attacking midfielder would earn more than four million euros per season.
He had interest from several European clubs, notably in Ligue 2 and La Liga.
Boufal joined Le Havre in the winter window last season, playing 17 matches with one goal and four assists. He departed as a free agent in the close season.
If the move is completed, Libya would become the sixth league of his career.
He has previously played in France with Angers, Lille and Le Havre, in England with Southampton, in Spain with Celta Vigo, in Qatar with Al Rayyan, and in Belgium with Union Saint-Gilloise.
