Soldado on leaving Corinthians, centre-backs mourn split: "Huge impact"

After winning the Copa do Brasil, Corinthians and Fabinho Soldado mutually agreed to end their contract, leaving the club without an executive in the football department. In a friendly match called “Craques da Paz,” the professional spoke about his departure and emphasized that he hopes for the club's progress.

“We leave a legacy, established processes, a formed, competitive, winning team. Adjustments are necessary, yes, we make mistakes, we get things right, it's part of the process. I wish all the success and I will hope that what was planted does not die, continues to germinate, that President Osmar can have the strength to steer this Brazilian giant on the best paths,” Fabinho Soldado began.

“I don't want to talk about what made me make the decision, I've already said, but I hope that President Osmar continues to have the support of people who want the best for the club. He understands processes, is a great businessman, understands business, I hope they continue to help and collaborate with him. To those who think differently, it's time to put vanity aside and I hope they continue the work. Corinthians will continue to evolve and I will keep rooting for this club,” he added.

The event featured two Corinthians players: Gustavo Henrique and André Ramalho, the starting defensive duo who were hired by the executive last year. The latter spoke about his feelings regarding the director's departure.

“To be honest, we were obviously sad. As I and other athletes have already said in interviews, we really wanted him to stay, for the exemplary professional he is, for his character. But it's a personal decision. We have to respect it. We know how football and life are. Professional challenges, personal issues, everyone decides as they see fit. He chose to leave. We have to respect it. As I said, we really wanted him to stay, but these are things of life, of football. Life goes on. Corinthians goes on,” commented André Ramalho.

For Gustavo Henrique, the departure creates a shock in the department, which will have to get used to a new name in charge of decisions, even with the preseason set to start next week.

“It's a big impact because now everything starts from scratch again. We build a work, solidify it, manage to win two important titles in the year. A very turbulent year off the field. And it impacts a lot because now, as I said, we start everything from scratch. A new director will come who may not know the club, who will get to know it,” said the number 13.

Corinthians entered the executive market after Fabinho Soldado's departure by mutual agreement with the board. Alessandro Brito, from Botafogo, and Paulinho, from Mirassol, were approached, while Bruno Spindel ended the talks as the contract formalization was not sent.
