While Manchester United haven’t always nailed it on the market in recent years, at least they did well to offload Jadon Sancho last summer.
In the summer of 2021, the Red Devils forked out £73 million to secure the services of the English winger who had presented himself as one of the most exciting young talents in Europe during his memorable stint at Borussia Dortmund.
After three largely disappointing campaigns at Old Trafford, Chelsea decided to offer the 24-year-old an escape rope from his Carrington woes, and the latter almost bit their hands off as evidenced by his recent controversial comment on Marcus Rashford’s Instagram post. When the 27-year-old striker made his debut for Aston Villa following his exile under Ruben Amorim, Sancho replied with one cheeky work, “freedom”, which put him in hot water.

And aside from his social-media misadventures, the Man City youth product hasn’t been able to deliver the goods on the pitch as of late. While his start of the season was somewhat promising, evoking talks of a career turnaround, his levels have plummeted in recent months, as illustrated by a shocking stat that went viral on X.
“Jadon Sancho has not completed a cross or had a shot on target in 2025. Solid business from Man Utd,” posted Statman Dave.
This appalling statistic certainly depicts a player who’s facing a real crisis. Sancho has thus far contributed with two goals and six assists across all competitions for Chelsea since the start of the season, but the bulk of them ensued during the first half of the campaign.
The London native signed for the Blues on loan with an obligation to buy for circa £22 million. He’s thus expected to seal a permanent transfer to Stamford Bridge next summer despite his woeful form.
