“Someday” – What Chelsea co-owner just said confirms a lot of fans’ worst fears

Jose Feliciano is the latest Chelsea owner to speak at a business conference, and it came with all the red flags you’d expect.

We often say that we never hear from Chelsea’s owners except for at horrible, soulless business conferences where they get their ego massaged, and guess what – Jose Feliciano has been speaking at “Bloomberg Live.”
There he answered plenty of questions about his part in the Clearlake – Boehly ownership of the club, including the usual positive spin on how thing are going.
“We take very seriously that Chelsea have been a top 6 [club] in the Premier League, and we intend to not only stay there, but we intend to compete for trophies every year.
“We intend to win the Premier League someday soon. And I think the reality is that I think we have put in place a much more sustainable system, in terms of players, in terms of kind of development that I think is yielding results right now.”
Some scary things in there. The goalposts on competing have been to stay in the “top 6” rather than the top 4, and we want to compete for the league “someday.”
Wasn’t the original ideal to be competing for the league after a couple of years? It’s already been four…
