Charlton Athletic set for 5th straight 20k+ crowd versus Millwall
Charlton Athletic are set for their fifth straight 20k+ crowd versus Milwall after the international break
After spending five seasons in League One, Charlton Athletic earned promotion back to the Championship after beating Leyton Orient 1-0 at Wembley thanks to a Macaulay Gillesphey strike.
With the Addicks rather going through the motions over the last five years, their promotion to the second tier has revitalised the club and most importantly the fans.
Mid-table finishes have become a common occurrence for Charlton since 2021, which led to fans perhaps losing a sense of hope that they would reach the heights of the Championship and even Premier League that fans are so used to seeing in their history.
However, under the guidance of manager Nathan Jones, Charlton are certainly looking on the up and the fans are loving it.
After experiencing nothing more than steady seasons since the turn of the decade, Charlton's promotion to the Championship has sparked life into the crowd at The Valley.
As the Addicks currently sit in 16th place under Jones, it is an exciting time for all involved at Charlton Athletic with the fans hoping for the best as the 2025/26 season kicks into full flow.
Four games down, and four points on the board, it is the start that all expected in southeast London.
Jones has had a busy summer transfer window and looks to be on the up with exciting names now in the door, such as the likes of Charlie Kelman, Rob Apter, and Harvey Knibbs.
Having cemented a side with sufficient quality and depth, Jones looks to be guiding the Addicks in the right direction and the fans are getting behind them as reflected by the attendance figures.
Charlton Athletic posted via their X page that their next game against Millwall on 13th September marks their 5th consecutive game with over 20,000 fans in attendance.
New signings, a driven manager, and ultimately a well-run club have led to the Charlton Athletic faithful getting on board with the project that they are building. With fans in full voice at The Valley this season, it will for sure spur on Jones' side to produce high performance levels on the pitch which can translate into positive results.
However, it hasn't been like this in recent years, as home attendances in League One have been lackluster to say the least, with the club not being able to average anywhere close to 20k over the course of a full season.
There has been a clear correlation over the past few seasons that Charlton's success has translated into their attendance figures.
With Jones having his work cut out prior to taking on the Charlton job, his work off the pitch has brought a smile back to the fans' faces and the club are reaping the rewards.
