Davis Keillor-Dunn is attracting the interest of Championship clubs after his whirlwind debut campaign at Oakwell
Three Championship clubs are mulling over whether to make an approach for Barnsley star Davis Keillor-Dunn after his standout 2024-25 season, sources have exclusively told Football League World.
The Tykes may not have ended up securing a League One play-off spot, but they still had some impressive individual performers - not least Keillor-Dunn in his debut year at Oakwell.
And thanks to his form over the course of the campaign, the 27-year-old could now make the step up to the Championship for the very first time in his career, with a second tier trio considering swooping for his services.
As per FLW's sources, Barnsley could potentially lose Keillor-Dunn after just one year, with managerless QPR, Oxford United and newly-promoted Wrexham - who he used to play for briefly back in 2020 prior to Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's takeover - all considering whether to submit transfer bids for the versatile attacker.
However, there is a fear from all of the interested parties that Barnsley's price-tag for Keillor-Dunn's services will be too high to be worth putting in an official bid, especially with a contract that still has two years to run, so there may be some negotiating to be done if he is going to depart the South Yorkshire outfit.
Signed from Mansfield Town for around £700,000 on transfer deadline day last August, Keillor-Dunn followed on from his 22-goal League Two season with an 18-goal haul in the division above for the Tykes, with a further two strikes in cup competitions taking him to 20 for the campaign.
Equally adept at playing as an attacking midfielder as he is as a central striker, Keillor-Dunn swept up the Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year awards for Barnsley this season, and should the club ask for a reasonable price for his services, he could make the step up to the Championship.
Barnsley are heading into their fourth straight League One season, but their need to balance the books is evident.
In March, chairman Neerav Parekh confirmed that there will be a need to balance the books this summer in order to try and make the Tykes more sustainable, and that would include cashing in on assets for the right price.
