A South American star has informed his agent he wants to join Liverpool.

Over the last decade or so, South American players have flourished at Anfield. From Luis Suarez to Philippe Coutinho to Alisson and Roberto Firmino.

Not to mention Fabinho and of course Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez.

All of the above mentioned stars became fan favourites. They are still fondly remembered on the terraces, and they have definitely helped in increasing the club's popularity on the South American continent.

Thanks to them and Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool is now a destination that many from the continent dream of ending-up and do not see it as a temporary step before moving to Barcelona or Real Madrid.

The Reds have definitely challenged the status quo in that regard.

Liverpool's new South Americans

The Reds are also working on introducing a new contingent of stars from the continent. Over the course of the last few years Liverpool have increased their scouting in the region.

Liverpool's scouts have a close relationship with one of the best academies in South America Independiente del Valle, who produces the likes of Moises Caicedo and Willian Pacho.

Right now Alexis Mac Allister represents the fresh face from South America but soon Liverpool have also agreed to sign Colombian Samuel Martinez.

Dubbed as the 'next Kaka' he will join the club next summer when he celebrates his 18th birthday and there's high hopes he can immediately strengthen Liverpool's ranks.

But he might not be the only South American joining Liverpool in 2027.

Ronald Araujo tells agent he wants to join Liverpool

Uruguayans just have a special history at Anfield and Araujo is proving that once again. It has been a really strong start from the Barcelona defender since arriving on loan.

Araujo's impressive displays and the fact that he puts his blood, sweat and tears into every performance has endeared himself to the fanbase.

Like Suarez and Nunez before him, his attitude is exactly what The Kop demands and what the fans want to see.

Already, the £47m buy-option Liverpool have at the end of his loan spell feels like a bargain.

It looks like Araujo is also keen to stay at Anfield. Indy Kalia is reporting that Araujo has informed his agent that he wants to move to Liverpool after his loan ends on a permanent deal.

By the looks of it, the Reds will likely make it happen.
