Daily Echo understands that Southampton have added match analyst Eduard Schmidt to head coach Tonda Eckert's backroom staff.

The 31-year-old worked alongside Saints staff during Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Hull City, taking his place with the analysts.

Schmidt most recently held a role at 2. Bundesliga side Hannover 96, currently sixth in Germany's second tier, and he previously worked at SC Paderborn.

He has experience in Switzerland and Canada and is a B-licensed coach, earning his DFB certificate in 2020.

He will work with first-team analyst Albert Jones, who had already been confirmed as part of Eckert's staff.

Assistant coach and former Saints player Ben Reeves sits alongside the analysts in the first half before joining the dugout for the second.
