Como president Mirwan Suwarso has confirmed a €10m offer has been made for Southampton target Ivan Azon.

After a chaotic few months, Southampton will be looking ahead to the 2026/27 Championship season, where promotion will be the aim.

As we all know, Saints lost their place in the play-off final in the previous campaign after they had been caught spying on Middlesbrough in the build up to the semi-final.

That was obviously a bitter blow for the club, and they will also start the upcoming season with a four-point deduction.

However, the club have stuck by Tonda Eckert, and the form Saints showed under the German after he succeeded Will Still suggest they could be in the mix to go up.

Como figure confirms €10m offer is on the table for Ivan Azon

Clearly, Southampton will need to strengthen their squad to achieve their goal, and one of the priority positions to strengthen is up top.

Whilst Cyle Larin has made his loan move permanent, in what looks like a smart bit of business, Ross Stewart has left the club after his deal expired.

Therefore, a new number nine is on the radar, and it was claimed that Como’s Ivan Azon is a target.

The Spaniard spent last season on loan at Ipswich, scoring five goals as the Tractor Boys won promotion, but he will not be going back to Portman Road, so Azon’s future is up in the air.

And, in a fresh development, Como president Mirwan Suwarso has stated to the Business of Sport podcast that a €10m bid has arrived from a club for Azon.

Even though he didn’t specifically namecheck Southampton as the club who made the offer, they were the only club to be heavily linked.

Ivan Azon would be a risky signing for Southampton

Southampton need to sign a striker this summer, but it’s fair to say that Azon would be a risky deal.

Firstly, it’s obviously a major bonus that he has played in the Championship, and he will have benefited from that experience, in terms of recognising what is needed to do well at this level.

Plus, whilst five goals in 38 games looks underwhelming, it’s worth noting that the majority of those appearances came from the bench.

Yet, that can’t be ignored entirely, and with Azon having failed to score more than seven league goals in a season in his entire career so far, there will be major doubts over whether the 23-year-old can be the clinical scorer that Saints want.

But, Southampton have had a relatively good record in the market in recent windows, so some fans will trust them to get it right if Azon is the man they want.

Southampton fans are underwhelmed with Ivan Azon transfer talk

Given his performances and record, it's fair to say that the prospect of Azon making the move to St. Mary's Stadium hasn't gone down too well among the Saints fans, who made it clear they don't want him to join.

Meanwhile, this fan questioned why the club didn't do more to keep Stewart as they assessed the striker options at the club.

This fan also questioned the fee, which would be a big outlay for the Championship side.

Finally, this Southampton fan did seem willing to give Azon a chance if he signed, as he suggested he could be the right person for Eckert's system.
