Southampton beat Preston North End 3-1 at Deepdale to finish fourth and book a Championship play-off spot.

Preston threatened before the break, as Alfie Devine and Lewis Norman Dobbin drew saves from the Saints goalkeeper.

After the restart, Ross Stewart doubled the lead (47.) from Cameron Archer's pass. Lewis Norman Dobbin halved the deficit (60.), finishing a break launched by substitute goalkeeper David Cornell.

Cyle Larin settled the game in the first minute of second half stoppage time, turning in Samuel Edozie's cross.

Preston tallied 16 attempts and forced 10 corners. The Saints registered 18 attempts and held 54.4% possession.

The Saints finish on 80 points and head into the promotion play-offs. Preston close in 14th on 60 points.
