Southampton defender Quarshie ‘to join’ Austrian champions Sturm Graz on loan | OneFootball

Southampton defender Josh Quarshie is set to join Austrian champions Sturm Graz on a season-long loan.

Sky Sports Germany first reported Sturm Graz as his destination. The 22-year-old has not featured this season and has struggled for minutes under Tonda Eckert.

He joined Saints from Hoffenheim last summer and made 18 appearances in his first campaign in England.

Jack Stephens and Taylor Harwood-Bellis were the first-choice centre-back pairing, while Nathan Wood stepped in for Stephens late last season due to injury.

Harwood-Bellis’ future at Saints remains unclear as negotiations with Aston Villa continue. Southampton are set to announce the signing of 29-year-old Keven Schlotterbeck from FC Augsburg for around £3 million, although the club have not officially confirmed the transfer at the time of writing.
