Southampton lead Norwich 1-0 at half-time at St Mary's and could climb into the Championship's top six if they hold on to their slender advantage.

According to Sainstmarching.com, Norwich began the sharper, with Anis Ben Slimane drawing a strong save from Daniel Peretz after a couple of tame efforts. Paris Maghoma should have been booked for four late challenges in the opening exchanges, the heaviest on Samuel Edozie inside five minutes.

Edozie then saw a penalty appeal rejected when he was bundled over as he waited for a Finn Azaz cross to drop.

The winger had the ball in the net on 23 minutes, but it was ruled out for offside against Azaz. A minute later James Bree's long throw was flicked on by Cyle Larin, Azaz stole in ahead of the defence and thrashed high into the left corner past Vladan Kovacevic.

Edozie later drove past Jack Stacey, who was booked by referee Lewis Smith with about 10 minutes of the half remaining. Maghoma blazed high and wide as the fourth official indicated two minutes of added time. Half-time, Southampton 1-0 Norwich.
