Southampton have parted company with manager Will Still after a difficult start to life in the Championship.

The 33-year-old, who joined the club on a three-year deal in May, leaves St Mary’s with the Saints sitting 21st in the table, just above the relegation zone.

Still’s tenure saw only two league victories in 13 matches, with Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat to Preston North End marking his third consecutive loss.

Across all competitions, he managed four wins in 16 games, leaving supporters frustrated after last season’s relegation from the Premier League.

The former RC Lens boss had arrived with a promising reputation, having guided the French side to an eighth-placed finish in Ligue 1. However, Southampton have struggled to find their rhythm in the Championship, picking up just 12 points so far this season.

Club officials confirmed that Under-21 head coach Tonda Eckert will step in as interim manager while a permanent successor is sought.

The Saints are next in action on Wednesday night, travelling to face QPR at Loftus Road, facing a critical fixture as they look to climb away from the relegation zone.
