Up for the next matchday, Liverpool and Southampton are opponent rivals. Surprisingly, still, Liverpool might help the Saints by Caoimhin Kelleher's Leeds move.
In the English division, three things remain difficult to understand: VAR calls, Chelsea’s skyrocketing spending, and Southampton’s relationship with Leeds United.
In fact, there are still chances one may figure out the first two, but the last remains a tough one to crack.
Remember where it all had begun? It did with Cameron Archer's Leeds talks. But the aftermath incidents, be it Leeds' stinging rejection or the club's comparison to Southampton, haven't been that simple.
Still, it would have made sense if everything stopped here. But, in a surprise turn of events, the Saints were urged to learn from Leeds.
Now, being called subpar than a Championship side in itself feels like an insult let alone learning from them. Just imagine, how worse it could have gone if the Saints had to lose their star keeper Ramsdale to Leeds in the upcoming summer.
Thankfully, it ain't happening now as Southampton's matchday rivals Liverpool come to the club's rescue.
How? Well, as per The Leeds Press, Liverpool is open to selling their backup keeper Caoimhin Kelleher to Leeds United. Being aware of the 26-year-old's contract, the Reds prefer to let him leave now rather than for free next summer.
Believe it or not, in this tradeoff, the real winner might prove to be Southampton. This is because Kelleher's move, who has been Leeds' priority target all along, will end their interest in Aaron Ramsdale.
Still, you know what? Southampton's happiness is short lived. After all, maybe not to Leeds, the Saints would be forced to let go of Aaron Ramsdale post relegation.
Otherwise also, though unwillingly taken a favor from their upcoming opponents, Southampton would hope not to repent this aid.
Given Liverpool's Premier League dominance, any scoreline feels possible. Hoping that the result doesn't go that bad for Southampton.
