Souza bids farewell to Santos as Tottenham move nears

Close to signing for Tottenham in England, left-back Souza bid farewell to Santos on Saturday.

In a social media post, the academy graduate thanked Santos for a decade at the club. He said the last year was intense, brought growth and the overcoming of challenges, and that the fans’ support would not be forgotten.

He added that he leaves with his head held high, grateful for everything, and believes his story there was built on truth, calling it a pride that not everyone can have.

Santos have negotiated a €15 million (R$ 94 million) transfer, and will receive 87.5 percent of that amount (R$ 82.6 million) after the player renounced 12.5 percent of the 25 percent he held.

During talks with Spurs, the club kept him out of training and did not field him in the first two rounds of the Paulista.
