A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid could be included in the Spanish national team squad for the very first time in the near future.

That’s according to Marca, who point towards Álvaro Carreras as the player in question.

The name of defender Carreras has of course taken its place front and centre in the chatter surrounding Real Madrid over the last 48 hours.

This comes after the 22-year-old produced his latest standout performance in the colours of Los Blancos.

En route to a 2-1 victory over Olympique Marseille in the Champions League, Carreras was in the eyes of most the very best player on the pitch.

This built further upon what has been a stellar start to life for the left-back in the Spanish capital, since his summer arrival from Benfica.

And as alluded to above, such efforts could soon see Carreras’ talents recognised on the international front.

As per a report from Marca, Luis de la Fuente is now ‘considering’ affording a debut senior Spain call-up to Real Madrid’s defensive ace.
