Spain v Argentina World Cup final half-time set at 17 minutes

FIFA has confirmed the half-time interval for Spain v Argentina in the 2026 World Cup final at MetLife Stadium will be 17 minutes, just two more than the regulation 15.

Speculation over an extended break had grown because of a planned musical show featuring headline performers.

Of that time, around 11 minutes are allocated to performances on the pitch, with the remainder for stage setup and removal and for preparing the surface before the restart.

The schedule means the game will proceed with minimal disruption despite the entertainment, easing fears that a long pause could break the players’ rhythm.

Hydration breaks, used throughout the tournament due to high temperatures, will also remain in place.
