Spain and Egypt meet in Barcelona on Tuesday in a friendly that both teams will use to build toward the World Cup, with La Roja aiming to build on a 3-0 win over Serbia.
Spain has been in excellent form overall, winning six of their last seven matches and losing only once since March 2024, in the Nations League final against Portugal. The European champions are unbeaten in 26 of their last 27 games in all competitions.
Head coach Luis de la Fuente is expected to use this game to check his squad depth, which should mean a good amount of rotation from the side that beat Serbia.
Spain will be without Martín Zubimendi, who withdrew after knee discomfort, and Aymeric Laporte, who is also sidelined, while established names such as Rodri, Pedri and Lamine Yamal could be rested or used only sparingly.
That should open the door for Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres to play bigger roles in attack, while Victor Munoz is also one to watch after scoring on his international debut against Serbia.
Spain’s game plan should again centre on controlling possession and blending fringe players into the team’s established tactical structure.
Possible Spain starting XI: Simon; Porro, Cubarsi, Huijsen, Grimaldo; Fornals, Zubimendi; Munoz, Olmo, Pino; F Torres
The match will kick off at 7:45pm BST on Tuesday, 31st March.
The match will be shown live in the UK on Amazon Prime PPV.
