Spain were crowned world champions for the second time on Sunday, with Ferran Torres scoring in extra time at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, United States. The triumph sent television audiences soaring.
According to Barlovento Comunicación, the broadcast averaged 15,385,000 viewers and an 86.3% share across La 1, La2Cat, DAZN and Teledeporte, with 19,168,000 unique viewers.
On La 1 alone, the match drew an average of 13,396,000 viewers and a 75.1% share.
Extra time averaged 16,608,000 viewers and an 89.3% share, making it the second most watched event in television history. It also recorded 18,120,000 unique viewers.
The 120-minute contest gripped audiences throughout.
