The 2025/26 season ends with a derby for the Juventus Men’s First Team, as Luciano Spalletti’s Bianconeri are across the city to take on Torino.
Ahead of the Derby della Mole, which kicks off at 20:45 CEST on Sunday, 24 May, the boss gave his traditional pre-match press conference.
Below is what he had to say.
“I’m expecting a performance worthy of what has happened this week, and of the level of importance that this game demands. It’s a derby, so I expect a reaction. We don’t regret the points dropped in the games wherein we put in a performance but fell short, but we regret those in which we didn’t manage to show our best selves, those games in which we didn’t build the kind of play that had distinguished us for so long. The explanation is always the same - I have to take my responsibility based on what the team do on the pitch. Everything comes down to character, to what the approach is when facing these situations. Everything we’ve done isn’t voided because of one incident or one match, there are always deeper analyses for me that allow me to plan the future with less emotion, or less dependent on a single moment.
“I speak to men, I’m convinced that’s what my players are. To plan means to be brave enough to look beyond the result, because behind it there is always a project, laying the foundations to build a future that we want, and one we want to make a reality. We still want to create the chance to go and fight for something big, whether we’re in the Champions League or not. We’re not happy with last Sunday’s result, but our goal is not a hope, but something concrete that we find on the pitch. We can only achieve it in one way: by winning.
“We’re not nervous this week. We’ve analysed the loss and have decided to follow a path and strategy to help the guys recover in the best way ahead of this last game of the season. I’ve had some sleepless nights, because it affects me when my team don’t express the work they’ve done. Stepping down has never crossed my mind. I haven’t asked to speak to anybody, but everything has been planned with the Club, and things will be more intense now - there will be a lot of meetings to plan for the future as best we can.”
