Spalletti: ‘Juventus could have done more against Atalanta, pleased with Kolo Muani’ | OneFootball

Luciano Spalletti says that he is pleased with Juventus’s overall showing against Atalanta on Sunday evening, even though he thinks the Bianconeri could have scored more than two, and says that he is delighted with the performance of centre-forward Randal Kolo Muani.

Goals from Francisco Conceicao and Gleison Bremer gave Juventus a 2-0 victory at home against Maurizio Sarri’s Atalanta on Sunday, which has taken the Old Lady back up to sixth place in the Serie A standings after five matches.

It was a particularly encouraging result for Juventus given their surprise defeat against Sassuolo last weekend and given the fact that they are still without several key first team players due to injury, including the likes of Manuel Locatelli, Khephren Thuram and Kenan Yildiz.

“As a coach, you can’t put a price on the importance of having your players available,” Spalletti told Sky Sport Italia after full-time.

“We had to defend at times today. We played on equal footing in the second half, but we could have done more damage because the space was there for us. But that’s play. The defeat against Sassuolo created some difficulties and doubts for us.”

It was an encouraging display from centre-forward Kolo Muani, despite the fact that he is still without a goal in Serie A after his return to the Allianz Stadium this summer.

“He had a really good game. I was disappointed when he popped up one-on-one with the goalkeeper because he deserved to score. But he was still very happy at the end and we joked about it. We’re all happy because now we can recover some of our strong players, who would have been useful to us recently.”
