Salah scored 28 goals and provided 20 assists in 62 Roma appearances under Spalletti before completing a €42m move to Liverpool in the summer of 2017.

Salah also played for Fiorentina in Serie A and left Italy with 35 goals and 22 assists in 81 league appearances with the Tuscans and Roma.

Spalletti went on to win the Serie A title with Napoli in the 2022-23 season, six years after leaving Roma.

The Italian tactician coached in the capital from 2005 to 2009 and then again from January 2016 to the summer of 2017.

The 66-year-old was sacked as the Italy coach this past June after a 3-0 loss against Norway in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Spalletti took charge of 24 Italy matches, winning 12, drawing six and losing as many games.

He is currently without a club, and Gennaro Gattuso has replaced him as the Azzurri boss.
