Fernandez joined Chelsea for a then British record of £106m from Benfica in January 2023, and is one of the faces of the club’s project.

However, despite winning both the Conference League and Club World Cup last season, Fernandez has cast doubt over his future.

Enzo Fernandez too expensive for Real Madrid

After Chelsea’s 8-2 aggregate defeat to PSG in the Champions League, Fernandez refused to guarantee if he’d be at the club next season.

Fernandez has been linked with Real Madrid, and added more fuel to the fire when he said he liked to live in the Spanish capital.

It’s been reported Fernandez has had his head turned, and if the right offer came in Chelsea would consider selling.

Madrid is said to be his dream destination, but Picon has reported despite Fernandez wanting to join Los Blancos his long contract and price of over €100m means any move this summer is not possible.

He adds people inside the club think he’d be a perfect fit in their midfield, and they have great reports of him from his time at Benfica.
