Sparta Rotterdam claim first win as Van Cruijsen strikes late

Sparta Rotterdam beat Telstar 3-1 at BUKO Stadion, sealing their first Eredivisie win of the season to climb from 13th to eighth.

In the sixth minute, Marvin Young turned in from close range after Nökkvi Þórisson flicked on a corner to put the visitors ahead.

After the restart, Þórisson doubled the lead with a low finish from the left (53.). VAR confirmed the goal.

Abdelnour Soualhia gave Telstar late hope in the first minute of second half stoppage time. Robin van Cruijsen then struck from distance in the seventh minute of second half stoppage time, finishing off Bas Kuipers' break.

Telstar had 60.6% of the ball but mustered only one effort on target. Sparta Rotterdam registered nine on target from 16 attempts, with Ayoni Santos also hitting the post early in the second half.

Telstar drop from fifth to ninth and visit FC Twente next. Sparta Rotterdam host Utrecht next.
