Special session marks Avaí at 103, honours Bira Lopes and Flávio Roberto

The Ceremonial Session organized by Avaí’s Deliberative Council to celebrate the Lion’s 103rd anniversary brought together hundreds of people — including council members, directors, authorities, guests, honorees, family members, and supporters — who celebrated the club’s greatness and attended the tribute to idols Bira Lopes and Flávio Roberto. Both were awarded the Saul Oliveira Medal, the highest honor granted by Avaí. For the president of the Deliberative Council, Alessandro Abreu, celebrating the anniversary also means preserving Avaí’s memory. He highlighted the importance of valuing those who helped build the journey of the club that has won the Santa Catarina championship more times than any other, as a way of keeping Avaí’s history alive. “We have a responsibility to recognize those who dedicated talent, work, and passion to making the club what it represents today.” Executive Board President Bernardo Pessi emphasized the presence of the supporters at the celebration. “Avaí is made by its fans. Having the Avaí Nation by our side at such a special moment strengthens the club and shows that we need to move forward together, on and off the pitch.” The program also featured a presentation on the honorees’ careers by the club’s historian, Spyros Diamantaras, the launch of the anniversary campaign, and the cutting of the cake.
