For some Bayern professionals who are not taking part in the World Cup, the summer break is not just about relaxing. One talented player is using his time in Brazil differently, with support from his own family
Maycon Cardozo has returned to his home country after the end of the FC Bayern season, but continues to put in extra sessions there. As reported by tz, the 17-year-old is training in Brazil under the guidance of his father Douglas, who used to be a professional himself
The German record champions are now in the vacation phase following their 3-0 win over VfB Stuttgart in the DFB Cup final, albeit mainly for those players who have not started their World Cup preparations with their national teams. Cardozo belongs to this group and is clearly not just using the time off to relax. The attacking player wants to prepare himself for the 2026/27 season
The Brazilian has been playing for FC Bayern since February 2025 and was already able to get a taste of the Bundesliga twice in March. He was then slowed down by a thigh injury, making it all the more important for him to prepare for his next attempt in the Munich star ensemble

Cardozo gave his almost 400,000 followers an insight into the program in Brazil on Instagram. The youngster, who was born in São Paulo in October 2008, works closely with his 44-year-old father Douglas. The sessions do not look like a pure vacation program, but rather a mixture of technique, athleticism and playful exertion
He trains with the ball on the beach, among other things, as well as doing strength exercises. The 1.65-metre dribbler practises headers in the pool. Footvolley is also part of the routine, which Cardozo uses to combine soccer and volleyball in his home country, a particularly popular combination there
In sporting terms, the task at FC Bayern is demanding. If Cardozo wants to get regular playing time in the coming season, he will have to hold his own against established players such as Michael Olise and Luis Diaz. At the same time, the example of Lennart Karl, who is not even a whole year older, shows that the leap into the first eleven is possible.
