Spence And Van De Ven Get 7.5 | Tottenham Hotspur Players Rated In Narrow Win Vs Villarreal

Tottenham Hotspur entertained Villarreal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier tonight as they looked to secure a win at home in the UEFA Champions League. Spurs had a fortunate start to the game as they found themselves 1-0 up in the fourth minute due to an own goal from Luiz Junior. Thomas Frank’s men sat on their lead well and went into the half-time break 1-0 to the good.
The North London club controlled the game well in the second half and managed to grind out a narrow 1-0 win in front of their home fans.
Let’s take a look at how each Tottenham Hotspur player fared during the clash against Villarreal.
GK: Guglielmo Vicario – 6.5/10
Vicario didn’t have a save to make in the game and kept an easy clean sheet tonight.
RB: Pedro Porro – 7/10
He performed his defensive duties well and made one key chance going forward.
CB: Cristian Romero – 6.5/10
Romero did his fair share of defending and was good on the ball.
CB: Micky van de Ven – 7.5/10
He gave a good account of himself on the defensive end of the field and would be quite pleased with the clean sheet.

LB: Djed Spence – 7.5/10
Spence came back to defend when required and made some driving runs with the ball.
CM: Lucas Bergvall – 6.5/10
He caught the eye at times at the centre of the park and was replaced in the 91st minute.
CM: Rodrigo Bentancur – 7/10
Bentancur was a positive influence at both ends of the pitch.
CM: Pape Matar Sarr – 6.5/10
He was full of energy and running, but put in a lackluster display in the opponent’s half.
RW: Mohammed Kudus – 7/10
Kudus made two dangerous runs with the ball but struggled to find the back of the net.
ST: Richarlison – 6.5/10
He made some important clearances at the back but failed to threaten the opponent’s goal.
LW: Xavi Simons – 7/10
Simons worked hard defensively and managed to shine at times in the final third.
Substitutes:
LB: Destiny Udogie – 6.5/10
He was solid at the back.
CM: Joao Palhinha – 6.5/10
He added some energy to Frank’s midfield.
ST: Randal Kolo Muani – 6/10
Kolo Muani made one good chance in the final third.
