Sport Republic CEO Rasmus Ankersen resigns from Southampton director posts | OneFootball

Sport Republic CEO Rasmus Ankersen has resigned as a director at Southampton, leaving the boards of Southampton Football Club Limited and St Mary's Football Group Limited.

According to Daily Echo, the formalities were completed today and it is not seen as a major operational change, as the Dane has not held a hands-on role for some time.

Sport Republic owns around 90 per cent of St Mary's Football Group Limited, which owns 100 per cent of Saints, with Katharina Liebherr, daughter of former owner Markus, holding about 10 per cent.

Ankersen remains a co-owner and attended St Mary's for Saturday's 4-1 win over Bristol City.

Sport Republic acquired Saints in January 2022, buying Gao Jisheng's 80 per cent stake. The firm, based in London, also holds majority interests in Valenciennes in France and Goztepe SK in Türkiye.

Ankersen co-founded Sport Republic and previously helped Brentford win promotion to the Premier League in 2021.

Since the takeover, Saints have been relegated from the Premier League twice and promoted once. They posted the second-lowest points tally in Premier League history in the 2024/25 season with 12.
