Sporting Kansas City have acquired winger André Luiz from Greek Super League powerhouse Olympiacos, the club announced Tuesday.

The 24-year-old Brazilian arrives for a club-record fee worth a reported $18 million plus add-ons.

Luiz has signed a five-year contract through the 2030-31 MLS season. He will occupy Designated Player and international roster slots.

"We are extremely excited to welcome André to Sporting Kansas City," said David Lee, the club's president of soccer operations & general manager.

"André is a dynamic player with pace, directness and technical ability who is coming off an excellent season in Portugal and Greece. At the age of 24, he fits with our model of adding quality players to our roster that still have their prime years ahead of them.

"André was highly coveted in some of the top leagues in the world, so we are delighted that he has decided to commit his long-term future to Sporting KC."

Luiz has produced 28g/13a in 140 club appearances since debuting in 2021 with boyhood club Flamengo in his native Brazil.

He then moved to Portuguese sides Estrela de Amadora and Rio Ave before joining Olympiacos in January. Luiz featured in the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League with Olympiacos.

Sporting KC are 15th in the Western Conference with 14 points as they look to make the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2023.

They're in their first season under head coach Raphael Wicky and Lee.
