Sporting CP of Lisbon has set its sights on Kenyan international defender Daniel Anyembe, according to exclusive information obtained by Africafoot. The 27-year-old, currently under contract with Danish side Viborg FF until June 2028, appears poised for a significant career move in the coming days.

Sources close to the player have confirmed to Africafoot that Sporting Lisbon has initiated formal discussions with Viborg FF's management regarding a potential transfer. The Portuguese club's sporting director, Bernardo Palmeiro, is reportedly a strong admirer of the defender's profile and is actively pushing to bring him into the squad.

While Viborg FF is not opposed to a winter departure for their player, they have placed a €5 million price tag on the transfer. This figure represents a significant premium over Anyembe's current market valuation, which is estimated at €2 million by Transfermarkt.

The Kenyan international, who has earned 13 caps for his country, joined Viborg FF in the summer of 2021 and subsequently extended his contract for three years in 2025. So far this season, he has featured in 21 matches across all competitions, solidifying his reputation as a reliable defender.

This development comes months after Africafoot exclusively revealed that Belgian club Standard de Liège was also monitoring Anyembe's situation. Now, with Sporting CP's serious interest, the stage is set for a potential bidding war for the defender's services as the transfer window progresses.
