It’s only a matter of time before Ruben Amorim is Manchester United manager.
Sir Dave Brailsford greeted fans as he left Old Trafford after Manchester United’s 5-2 win over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup Fourth Round.
The INEOS chief was bold enough to respond to shouts of Ruben Amorim by telling fans a deal was ‘done’ for the Sporting Lisbon manager to move to Manchester United.
However, it was reported on Wednesday that United are closing in on sealing a deal for Amorim, who is set to sign a two-and-a-half-year deal to replace Erik ten Hag.
United have agreed to pay Sporting £9.2m in for the termination clause, with Amorim expected to join the club after the November international break, as per the Daily Mail.
But a Sporting source has spoken to A Bola and insisted an agreement is yet to be reached between the two clubs for Amorim. This means the wait must go on.
It is understood that Sporting are still waiting to receive the fee they’ve been promised for Amorim.
Amorim is likely to bring two of his assistants from Sporting to United, which is likely going to cost an additional fee on top of the termination clause. They include Carlos Fernandes and Adelio Candido.
Ruud van Nistelrooy has made it clear that he would be willing to work as part of the new set-up under Amorim, after leading United to a win in his first game as interim manager.

United initially planned to have Amorim in charge for Sunday’s game against Chelsea. However, those plans appear to have been dashed as Amorim could remain at Sporting for the next three matches to see out his notice period.
That means Van Nistelrooy may be in charge for the next three matches against Chelsea, PAOK and Leicester City.
Amorim would then takeover after next month’s international break.
