Sporting ‘to join’ Benfica race for Sergio Arribas | OneFootball

Benfica are tracking Almería winger Sergio Arribas, and Sporting are also considering a move for the 24-year-old.

According to As, Sporting have an eye on the player and Almería would only sell for around 20 million euros, about half of his 40 million euro release clause.

This is another player linked to the Segunda Circular rivals since the summer window opened, and so far the contest has been dominated by Frederico Varandas's board.

Benfica have followed Arribas for several months and view him as a possible addition in attack. The strong institutional relations between Benfica and Almería, bolstered since Darwin Núñez's transfer to the Estádio da Luz, could help if the club led by Rui Costa opts to open talks.

Last season with Almería, Arribas made 47 appearances, 46 in Segunda División and one in the Copa del Rey, totalling 3,829 minutes, scoring 26 goals and supplying six assists.
